Thoughts from the Migrant Camp

Life in Mexico is…hot, dusty, and sunny, but I must say that when one is working for the Lord life seems a little easy. We visited the migrant camps last night and each time I turned a new direction a new child was begging for a piggy back ride, to be spun around, or to just have your touch upon them. I am blessed to be given the chance to see lives like this. I count my blessing!!! Hope all is well in Washington!

PS Hi family, love you all very, very much!

Well Mexico is all I thought it would be except the town is bigger then I thought it would be and it smells worse then I thought any place could smell like. The people down here are very nice and very welcoming. It’s hard knowing that the people down here have to live in such a dirty place. Please pray for them and know that God is definitely doing great things down here. See ya all soon.

This is my sixth trip to Mexico and one of the best. It’s exciting to see what God does in the team and in the town of San Vicente. From the work of the church, to Rudy, to the team, and to each and every person. Through the heat, dust, flies, and language barrier, God has been with us pushing us along. Today I was able to talk to some farm workers. Eight dollars a day, working seven days a week, picking fruit and vegetables we will eat. Think about that next time you shop for food. Hope all is well with the kids at home and see you soon.

Hi from Debbie. It has been a busy week so far. We had a realllllly looooong day yesterday. We put in a full day working at the church site getting the walls ready to pour cement today. We had a group go to the Casa and do a craft with some of the kids. Some were working on electrical stuff at Rudy’s house. After dinner we cleaned up and then headed out in the bus with the new DVD player, projector, a freshly painted piece of plywood and some chairs for the closest migrant camp. Rudy wanted to show The Passion as soon as he had the opportunity to do so. We got the movie started around 8:30 and it finished up at 10:30. The head guy at the camp said he would leave the electricity on until the movie was done so it could finish. They normally turn the electricity off at 9:30. A lot of people stayed until the end, which is pretty amazing considering the get up around 4 AM and are out the door by 6 and put in a full day working and then have dinner, etc to do with the kids…..There were people who responded to Rudy’s invitation after the movie and Ralph prayed for them. There are some new Christians who we talked to also. It was an amazing day and what a blessing to see how God is working down here. The bus is going to be great because Rudy is going to use it to bring people from the migrant camps into church on Sundays.

Well, off to sleep. Amy, hope you check in and see this. Tell Nate and Amy hi for us and Jenny and Josh if you talk to them. Hope stuff is going well. Give Ben a hug for us. Will try to call Thursday or Friday.

Hello from San Vicente Mexico! So far the week has been absolutely great! I’ve gotten to work at the church construction site, work at the migrant camps, and just bound with my fellow team members. It’s hot and dusty, but it is amazing to me how cheerful and happy everyone is even working in such bad conditions. God is doing great things down here and I am excited to see all that He still has planned in the coming week and a half. Keep praying for our safety! Hi Mom! I love you too! Tell everyone hi for me and I’ll see you all on the 24th!

Hi Mom and Dad,

I miss you a lot. Things are going well south of the border. Nobody has lost any important appendages, and our projects are getting along. I love you and will try to call you soon.

Laura
