Update.. Coming to Christ

Hello again,

Sorry about the delay in updating. Thanks for the comments. I will save this page and show it to everyone tonight so they can all see your comments. As for being more timely as someone requested, please understand that unlike at home I do not have an internet connection in the room I am staying in so in order to do this I have to work around Rudy and our scheduels as a team. However, I am making an attempt to update this everyday before 8:00 so you can check up on us before you get to bed. (Last night we had a trip to a migrant worker camp and got back at 12:00 AM- more on that later).

Anyways, everything is going pretty well here. It just seems to be getting hotter and hotter everyday. I believe it was somewhere close to 87 F yesterday and even hotter today. It is strange that there is no cloud cover, so the sun just beats directly down on us (This is good for concrete work as it cures in less than 24 hours).

We continue to praise God that no one has been seriously hurt. There few sunburns here and there, and I have a good size bruze on my arm, but for the most part we are all good.

Over the past 2 days there have been many new expreinces for those that have not been here before. Yesterday people got to see their first migrant camp, see their first scorpian, and even see the city dump for the first time.

More importsntly this is the first time we have whitnessed an entire family come to Christ through our partnership with Rudy and his minnistry. Last night we took the bus into a close by migrant camp at around 9:00. When we pulled up to the camp it was amazing to see all the little kids running along the side of the bus shouting "Los Americanos!..". It is amazing to think that a thing as small as our presence brings so much joy to kid's hearts.

Believe me it surpreised me to when all our people jumped off the bus to recieve the loving embraces of the children. In fact, never have I seen any of my frinds so loving and compassionate. Katie, Randy (yes even quiet Randy) and Steve all grabbed kids in their arms and held them as if they were their own...

A few minutes later we hooked up a projector and began the movie The Passion on the side of the bus. Sandy Williamson, Dell Enders and Nathan Schooly (sorry about the spelling) all rigged up a painted plywood screen on the side of the bus. Alhough many can not read, the movie played over the next two hours with spanish subtitles. The images alone must have made an impact as the croud of about 150 watched in attentive silence.

After the movie played, Rudy gave an alter call for those who had seen the sacrifice Jesus made and wanted him in their life. Many stepped forward and I believed recived Christ last night, but one family in particular heart's were broken.

A family of 6 stepped forward slowly to Rudy and Ralph. The father of the family had tears welled up in his eyes as he asked Rudy to pray for him. The father had recieved Christ a few days previous on one of the other visits from Rudy, but this time he wished to bring his family forward. His wife, brother and children all looked to us and to him with this yearning for unconditional love that God offers to all those who accept him.

We closed our eyes and placed our hands on the family as Ralph offered a prayer for the family and their newly placed faith. Please contine to pray for this family and others as God uses our hands and hearts here to bring glory to His kindom and his love to the people here.

In Christ,

Billy
